Kudzu Dragon
Near my house off of a ramp that connects I-77 to I-485 is the Kudzu Dragon. This happens to be the spot where about 7 years ago I was pulled over for a DWI. That night I pulled my car over almost exactly under where the Kudzu Dragon would eventual grow to adulthood. I drive by her almost everyday of the week and for the past few months have been longing to stop and take her picture. Today I braved the fast moving cars and trucks and walked up and down the spot taking pictures of this simulacra of a dragon. It is funny now to think of the irony of my night of too much drink, which landed me in the jail downtown Charlotte. Because of my depression over a relationship I drank to much and putting myself and others at risk and drov
e a couple ton weapon down the highway. Since then, I have 'grown' and don't risk life nor limb in such fashion. The Dragon grew up over the past few years and I recognized her immediately as a young sprig of kudzu forming the skeleton of a powerful Dragon emerging from the landscape.
She has been calling me to photograph her so today I did.
As I was walking back to my car which was pulled over on the emergency stopping lane I found something else which jogged another memory. On the Opposite side of I-485 when I first moved to this side of town I was exiting the Tryon St ramp and saw in the distance a Turtle slowly making its way off the road. The Turtle being one of my totem animals naturally made me want to rush to its aid, but sadly a transfer truck came barreling by and clipp
ed the turtle. This threw the poor turtle up into the air and it came crashing down on the side of the road, I stopped of course to find a broken and dying turtle. I kept her and her shell still sits in my yard.
Today after my photo shoot, walking back to my car I find a flattened baby turtle no bigger than a half-dollar coin. It was as if the reptilian energy of both Dragon and Turtle was calling out to me. So,,,
Being that I am practicing Silence, I am being Silent waiting to hear what they have to say before I speak what they wish verbalized......

Sadly, there tend to be sacrifices my friend ...
And yet everything has a destiny.
The dragon is wondrous. Oh, I do feel for those turtles! One day a nest of snapping turtles hatched in my backyard, and all afternoon little turtles the size of silver dollars trekked across the lawn toward the pond 2 blocks from my house.
My daughters wanted to keep one as a pet. Even I wouldn't go that weird.
Good to see you back in action.
Dear Scott,
I don't mean to gloss over the deeper introspections of this last post, but I gotta ask....
Is someone sculpting that bush?
The whimsy of it all!
Hope you are well!

Hey Anne,,, thanks for dropping in and checking in on me,,, missed reading The Gods are Bored,,, will be catching up soon..
WW: If someone is sculpting my dragon they are pretty stealth,, it is not an easy approach I assure you,,,, so I guess just the Earth and Kudzu Deva's are doing the artwork.. and the deeper introspections,,, they love whimsy!!
