HER NAME IS CRYSTAL***
The days are sorta blurring,, my sleep patterns are still very much NO SLEEP.So I was up going on 28 hours when I had to take my roommate James to work,
His Jeep died after visiting his girlfriend over the weekend. We finally got it out
Of SC and back to Charlotte, it took two attempts as it died again not far from the
house Monday. So, I hyped myself up on coffee so I could take him to work on time
6:00am. I dropped him off and head into morning traffic, something I am not used
to dealing with, almost got sideswiped by two different cars,, these folks are assholes.
At a stoplight I saw this dog at a CIRCLE K frantic from traffic and acting like he was
on someone to come out of the store,,, NOT ON A LEASH!!! Of course I had to stop.
The idiot behind the counter acted like he did not understand me,,, "Is this your dog?"
Not being sterotypical, but I think he said something in Pakistaini,, I cursed in Arabic
for the effect and he got wide eyed and said something I didn't understand.
No customers anywhere, and he screamed shrill like a soprano when I let the dog in to get
out of the cold, so I said to the dog, a beautiful smaller retreiver with a blue collar, a girl.
"Here."
She came right over to me and sat at my feet. "Come on." I said to her and she followed.
I unlocked my car, and opened the door, "Up." and she jumps in the front passenger seat.
The clerk was looking over the signs in the window, watching, I was trying not to hate
humans. I get into the car, and she kisses me, and lays her head in my lap.
Those eyes with short blonde eyelashes blinked looking up and I heard her stomach gurgling.
I stroked her fur and it was so soft and I could feel the bones a bit too much, of course no
Rabies tag or other identification. I took the collar off, looked inside where some people write their phone numbers,, nothing. It was six-fifteen and the veterinarian down the street did
not open til 8:00 am. What kind of hospital was that?? most at least do seven, so I decided to get out of the downtown area and head back home. Before I did I stopped and tried to ask some
locals if they recognized her, no one did of course. The women all looked at me strange and I didn't remember until later today that there had been a rape on that street,, sorry ladies,,
was just trying to find this doggies Mommie/Daddy. Plus I guess I did look rough, hadn't shaved was in set of rough jeans/shirt,, guess I could have looked scary. Just not queer enough sometimes.
So I dodged a few more maniacs on the interstate and stopped to get gas,, she looks soulfully at me as I pump the gas. My dogs will be pissed I thought, oh well, won't be the first time I have brought another dog home,, this time it would just have four legs. We get to my house and I leave her in the car while I take the Master and Mistress of the house out to the back lot.
"Come on." I said and she jumps out and runs to the grass and takes a leak. Good doggie. She follows me to the door and I open it and in she goes like she had been there a million times.
Monkey Kat was by the door waiting to launch himself out, and She sniffed and didn't flinch,,
so obviously she has been around cats,,, Monkey demands to go out,, after sniffing in return the new four-legged.
She spys the water bowls and proceeds to empty one of the bowls, I put out some dry food, and she scarfs the kibbles up instantly. OK,, wait a bit,, she looks at me and makes this funny snore like sound. So I give her more, she is starved. I watch and cry as she is eating. Sorry, but I
hate animal neglect so much, hopefully she is just lost,, not DUMPED. I know how I take care of my babies, (like royalty!) I know she has been on the street for awhile, her toenails showed the wear from the cement/streets. So, I pet her and when she is finished she is looking for more food, still hungry. "Sit" and she sits. "Down." she goes down to lay on the ground. "Howdy" she hands her paw out to me. Now if she does the next one,,,,,, "RollOver" and she does.... Damn,, my dogs aren't that well trained. I take her for a walk, and she pees and does her business. It has leaves and grass all in it with bits of plastic and other garbage. Not good,, but I am beat, and want to sleep a little before having to return to get James.
I get on the couch, grab a blanket and cover up,
She jumps up, and lays on top of me, talking and cooing in a Retreiver grumble way.
She sighs and falls asleep on top of me. I cry, I didn't want another doggie,, but I think I have been adopted...
Picture to follow soon,,, me and my three dogs are going to bed,, almost 48 hours now.
I also need a name,,, GirlyDog is not good enough for her,, and we have to go put signs out
tommorow where I found her...
My life.....
***UPDATE NOTE: Hey everyone,, GOOD NEWS,,, Her Name is
CRYSTAL, and her daddy was very anxious to get her back. One of the veterinarians I contacted checked their lost and found book a bit better than when I had them on the phone!! Pays to call EVERY VET IN TOWN. He invited me to have a dinner at the restaurant he works at downtown as a thank you. Crystal, gave me a big kiss before jumping into his Jeep. SO I am very happy she is with Daddy!! I did scold him about the NO TAGS on the collar. He said he would never let her out without them again. Last night
She slept in the bed with me, Mystical, Titan and the two cats, Monkey and Pud last night,,, she is a good dog. 9 years old!! Actually I was going to keep her if I could not find her parents... so sweet, I will actually miss her, but am glad it was a happy day for her 'first daddy'.
And she knows she can come stay over anytime.

You should name her Charlotte, if that's where you found her. Or Carolina.
Oh, darling....I can so relate...I woke up at 2:45 am.
Her name will just pop into your head, you will see!
aaaw - you really are a wonderful man!! I hate people who are mean to animals. Those are the only times I get really mad - when people are mean to other living beings. I can't handle it. She sounds gorgeouss! And I bet the right name will come to you.
Oh, I love her. She sounds like my sweet Betsy, who was also a starving stray and is now the sweetest, girliest princess-pretty-paws of a dog ever. :-)
She might have a wild run-away streak like my Betsy does too. (Betsy can chew through any leash in a matter of seconds).
Since your new friend is so well-trained, I bet she belonged to someone who loved her, but she got loose. She must have smelled some good smells and just had to go check them out, and before she knew it she was lost. They should have put tags on her though, dumb people.
You might just need this particular doggie. She picked you out so now she's yours, and I bet she came to you for a reason. She sounds like she'll be no trouble and she might be just what you need.
As for the Pakistani guy, don't be too hard on him. I have heard that in Muslim cultures dogs are never brought inside, as they are considered unclean. They like cats as pets though. I think it might just have been a cultural thing.
I wish I could give your doggie friend a big hug.
I like the name Charlotte. What do you think?
Hey everyone,, GOOD NEWS,,, Her Name is
CRYSTAL, and her daddy is very anxious to get her back. SO I am waiting on him to call me and for us to arrange meeting up and returning her to her Daddy!!,

Aww what a sweet story. I didn't get to read about the dog until after you found her "daddy". I am so glad she is home..I love happy endings
Hey Autumn and Everyone ,,, I do Like Happy Endings, especially when they are just the Beginnings of Something Wonderful.....
she's gorgeous! I love that look on her. I'm happy you found her dad. Friendship in the making??
Hmmm. Great story. One question: Is her "daddy" a cute gay man? Hope you all have a nice dinner together... it may be the start of something.
Read the previous post: yeah, this time of year is hard for us "aloners" as our minds bring bubbling furiously to the front of thought all that we have kept on a back burner. You did sound hot in your jeans, white shirt, and leather. Hee hee hee.
Hahaha! I was thinking the EXACT same thing as Sandra! Who is this guy? Is he hot?
Anyway, you were so SMART to think of calling all the vets in the area. I wouldn't have thought of that. What a smart idea.
She's such a pretty doggie. What a love. I'm glad you got to help her find her way home.
i was told by a psychic that the animals find "you" -- so, guess it was meant to be for a short while, but i'm sure it was just a really nice experience for you both. who else would have been perfect to find her.
OK NOW,,, Nerdine, Kate and Sandra,,, Now when I said daddy,, I didn't exactly mean DADDY!! Crystal's human was a nice guy,, yes I thought him very gay,, but no sparks or any such luck,, not to say I didn't think that it would be cool if something like that happened..In fact I will admit to daydreaming a 'connection',,, but... not in the cards. The 'dinner' is just for me and a guest,, he would pick up the tab... very nice I thought,, but nothing along the lines of the movie Serendipity or anything!!,,,,, but,,, I do have to admit,, I might get a job out of it all, the Veterinarian that he takes Crystal too was one I contacted and I have an interview on Monday for a JOB!! Hooray!!! Now Elisa,, the psychic might be right,, she 'found' me knowing I need this job,,, really bad!! So it is ALL GOOD!!
YAY!!! a job interview! cool! Good Luck!
I ususally don't jump to conclusions, and I only thought that a man with such a wonderful, wellbehaved dog must be a man worth knowing - gay or not..?
Oh, what a wonderful ending! I'm so glad you found her Daddy. The world is blessed because of caring people like you, Scott.
Good luck with your interview!
