BLOG THERAPY
Americans are so independent,, I love that about us, if something is broke, we always try and fix it first before we finally call for help cause we are in too deep for our on good. I find that BLOGS are the American Psychaitrist Couch.......
"Please, lay down, and Tell me about your Childhood!!"
"ya, I know, the couch is old and full of doghair, so why does that bother you??"
We, as Americans buy more Self help books than any other nation. We love Dr. Phil ( I don't, but many do) We patch, glue back, tape with duct tape, everything to keep things moving on. If we could only do this with our personal lives. And we try. Thus Blogs.
Personally I love it. I am a certified Medical Heretic, so you are very unlikely to see me at a Dr.s office, unless I was carried in dead or comatose. Can't stand em. Priest in White coats.. They (Generalizations here I know) are arrogant and not always smarter than the sick people they claim to help. And the pronoucements of Death times,,,, God I can't stand that.
"Sorry Sir, you only have 6 months left"
"Really?"
"Yes, there is nothing more we can do."
"You haven't done anything."
"I know sir, sorry, enjoy your six months"
Jesus, I mean is this not more like a Death Curse from some WitchDoctor (Not to disparge Witches or Witchdoctors, I know a few of both,, nice people) I mean plant a seed and let it grow. No wonder our health care system sucks.
Anyway.
Being that I practise what is commonly called "'Magic", I was taught that the first thing that one should do is get into therapy. To Know Oneself. I always wanted to do this, but never could find one smarter than me to help out, so I have relied on friends for my own psychoanylism. And now Blogs. I didn't mean to sound arrogant, but being that I have done the work on 'Knowing Oneself" it would take me a year just to catch a psychologist up, before we could get to the current issues at hand. I am sure they would want to linger about and discuss other things that would crop up in discussion.
"So, this hallucination of Beings from other worlds, and the UFOs, are you sure that you were not on any kind of drugs"
"Yeap, clean as a whistle that night, and the second time was broad daylight,, and I was reading a book when it happened so I had my wits about me."
"Maybe this was a flashback of those Mushrooms you said you did"
"No sir, didn't do mushrooms until long after my first encounter, and I surely was not doing them as a kid"
Being that I am a Jungian as far as the mind goes, I know what Archtypes are and have dealt with many of the facets that come with confronting one's own 'Shadow'.. I have actually made alot of progress in my mind,, It is good to get the feedback though and that is what I think I like about Blogs,, honest feedback, cut to the chase, no BS and once in a while you might meet someone with a background in psychology to give you a few pointers.
Now, I know there are people out there who need help and can not do as I do,,, which is fix it myself. I have empathy for them, and wish them well ,, hoping that they will find just the right therapist to unlock the store of SelfKnowledge they are in need of to heal.
I guess my point in this post is this:
We all are ALONE
In our Minds.
and it can be damn lonely,
So be nice to that weirdo, he/she may be earnestly searching for a way out of their self induced madness.
Watch your words,
They have the power to affect/effect people for the rest of their lives, hell we all should realize that a few words can Change the world,, so choose words carefully. On Blogs this is a real issue, that has bothered me, so I am extra aware of how I write now,, (except when I have a buzz)
And Be NICE
there is no need to trump someone, just to make yourself feel good.
be Optimistic
Pippy Longstockings was correct in the way she approached the world, we could all learn alot from this childhood book. Perspective is Everything, and we all would prefer a 'better' outcome,, so learn Optimism. I know it is hard,, but I am sure you could find some bloggers to help. They are ALL ABOUT FREE THERAPY

Scott,
Thank you for all your kind comments and support on my blog.
As you know, I have been experiencing some issues with my name and likeness being hijacked. At least it has helped me find an icon I adore...This Man Ray, L'Violin
I LOVE Man Ray!!! You are too cool!! Hope that your 'alter ego' gets their own blog,, I am sure we would read it just to see where he/she is coming from. To bad some think that assuming others persona's is the way to fulfilment.
Such is life, what a world,, but you gotta move on. Hope all that is over very soon.
Why Miss Wissa, you make me Blush.... thank you, if you read my other post on Women, you know I love them, just can't go 'all the way' intimately. But I will damn sure be a good friend if you want one!!! thanks again for the compliment,, my ego needed that...
I don't think you sound arrogant at all. In my experience, therapists don't do a whole lot more than sit there and listen to you talk to yourslef anyway... you're pretty much drawign your own conclusions and therefore fixing your own problems. However, since the therapist provides an audience, it forces you to think a little deeper, anyalze, and carefully choose your words. Blogging does the exact damned thing. And it's free... so unless a person requires medication, I think it is a great substitute.
Would that be a great t-shirt: "Screw therapy... I have a blog!"
Now that I am in a calmer space, and have posted again, I can read your comment. I am sorry I did not respond to it directly before.
Interesting point about blogs being like a psychiatric coach. But this may be the case for any kind of interactive internet site as well. I think there is a distionction, however. On blogs, more often than not, we seek validation, acceptance and a desire to be welcomed and appreciated. The psychiatrist, it seems still has the role of trying to figure out what is going on and fix it. Bloggers do not typically fix one another, at least in my experience, but they constitute a fantastic support network, when necessary.
Good post, by the way.
