Genetic Memories
Today is a beautiful day here in Charlotte and I really should be out in the yard, weeding the garden and mowing the grass, but I have been obsessed with the genealogy stuff I have been working on lately. My mothers family is the line I have been working on very hard and I have 3 different lines past 1500!! One of the Richmonds married an Abigail Rogers whose grandfather came over on the Mayflower! The direct line thru the Richmonds I have traced all the way to about 980 AD, and have found that there were close ties to William the Conqueror!!! They even have a castle in England steeped in history built by one of my ansectors called Richmond Castle, hope to go there someday, if I had only known this when I was in England!!!
But most likely one of the coolest things is when I was researching Andrew Powhatan Gadd, my Great, G,G.G grandfather and his Civil War stuff I recognized the middle name, and thought No way, but damn if I didn't find out yep... that was Pocahontas' father!!,, and if I can a bit more documentation,,, I will be able to prove the descent from her!!! This was all too cool as it all sorta fell in my lap within one weeks time.
The other cool thing I found out (still through my maternal line) was descent through a Sir Roger Hayles, who had a daughter marry Edward II and a brother who was the Priory of the Knights Templars around 1300, He was beheaded during the peasant revolt!! So, my interest in the Knights Templars has a basis in my genealogical heritage!! Genetic Memory??? So, instead of doing so many of the things I should be doing , I am working on the Genealogy again,,, it is too interesting and being the pagan that I am, to honor the ancestors is important. I have always wondered about the genetic memories of certain things I attribute to some of the more strange experiences I had as a child,, now I seem to be uncovering it.

YAY - You fixed it! This geneology stuff sounds very interesting. But it also sounds like a lot of work (which means I won't be joining the club any time soon!) My grandmother's sister is really into it, but I don't know how far back she's gotten. The way she describes it, it sounds addictive. I have enough of those already, namely, smoking, drinking, and blogging!
