Another Way?
I was gifted this week with a wonderful message that has struck a cord deep in my soul. Look around you and you will recognize this message, it says the Hour is Now. Look at your family, friends and acquaintances who move daily in and out of the web of life like cogs in the wheels of some superstructure gone mad. This "Civilized" world we have created, is not so civilized. We have renounced our humanity for creature comforts and pleasures that are fleeting and vanish as soon as they appear.
Do you even know your neighbors?
Do you get in your car each day, and see them, maybe wave, but that is as far as it goes? Are you alone in a cubicle at work? Do you eat alone in the car while driving to the next 'destination' on your daily list?
Do you wonder where the 'community' has gone? Do you segregate yourself to ONLY your Church, temple or spiritual path and forget about the rest of the world? My friend Ricky used to take his hands and lift them over his head and draw an invisible circle around himself and tell me that he wasn't concerned with anything outside of that circle. "If it doesn't effect me." attitude is very prevalent. We both knew he was kidding himself to think that was possible, today he would not do it with the same meaning I think. We isolate ourselves to the extreme in the modern world, I know, I have been doing it real well for the past year and a half. I cut myself off from interaction of any real kind. I have this dream of being a hermit, a lone wolf in the wilderness. The day of the Lone Wolf is over according to the words of the Hopi Elders that Sunyata sent to me the other day. It shook me to the core of my being. I am not alone in this endevour called life, and I can look to no one to lead me, but myself. We , collectively, are the answer to the problems that we face as a species, as a nation, as a world. We can benefit ourselves only when we come out and greet each other in brotherhood, without expectation or desire to take from or exploit the resources of our fellow humans. Brotherhood and sisterhood sounds corny to many, but believe me, it is all that we are left with at this crucial time in history. If we fall into the Us/Them mentality we are doomed. It is all US. We must fight our inclination to seperate from others because of historical blindness on the part of our forefathers. We must be wiser than the wisest of all of our Spiritual leaders from the past. We must forgive the debts and sins of the 'Other' and move towards a Unity that binds us all. OUR HUMANITY.
Today, greet the Stranger with a smile from your heart. Today call the person who hurt you the most and forgive them, without condesending attitudes. Bless the ones who would do you harm and move forward towards a humanity that is more than we have ever dreamed of before, because it is possible.
Yes, we will have to dismantle alot that has been built up in the name of ''progress'' but frankly I don't think we will miss alot of the negative that our forefathers have dumped on us unknowingly. It is not to blame the past, but recognize that it may not hold our FUTURE.
The battle between the Secular and Religious factions of Earth must stop. This is what is destroying our future, the belief that any of us know what is going on in the realm of spirit after we pass the threshold of Death, we have no proof of anything but This LIFE WE LIVE NOW.
If you want to believe the Grand DUCK of the Universe rules and banishes the bad people to the far reaches of the Universe, so be it, keep it to yourself unless asked to expound privately to another. We must focus on the Here and Now, today, not some eternity that none of us may ever see anyway. (Yes, that is my secular Humanist in me coming out) But that doesn't mean we can not have religions and spiritual beliefs, but they cannot trump the card of FACT that ALL WE HAVE IS NOW.
We must learn from the Great Mahatma Gandhi who taught his followers that they had to be ready to die for the cause, but must not take a life doing so,, this is true Passive resistance. The poor souls who are taught to kill for an eternity of anykind are better off without religion at all. The religions they die for have failed them. I speak to Jews, Christians, and Muslims when I say this, none of us are above the fact that Today is It. Take the words of Jesus and live them, reach out in love to your enemy, turn your cheek, bless them who would curse you, and I mean really bless them. My heart goes out to the poor children who riot in France and other countries today. They have NO HOPE. That is the fault of the religions that have failed them, feeding them on promises that cannot be filled in this life. That tells me that religion has fail humanity, or should I say humans have failed the religions they profess. I would much rather be the Secular Humanist I am than a hypocrite who mouths fine verses from a holy book, but can't speak them from my heart.
Personally I believe in the right of all religions to exist peacefully beside each other, but when they destroy my Mother, the Earth, I say to them "I wish you never existed" I hate to admit it sometimes but I do think that religion is Humanities enemy at times and we would be better off with a more secular humanist approach to living. Supernaturalism has a VERY VERY DARK SIDE,, and I am not talking the dangers of the Occult, I mean Organized mainstream religions.
We have no more time to wait. The time is now for us all to Unite and drop our petty diffferences or we will soon all be dust and our children will never see adulthood. We must reign in our derelict Leaders who are just making off with our collective treasures and melting them all down for the gold. We must renounce with an offensive attack the Dealers in Death and destruction, the Military and Industrial corporations who live on Blood money. These people we must find and teach love and compassion or we are all doomed.
So, if by chance, your job is involved in some unethical practise, QUIT.
If you are working for Lockhead Martin, QUIT, the money is not worth your soul.
If you take part in something that you know feeds the madness, STOP.
The Time is Now, do not fool yourself any longer.
Let go of the shore and release yourself into the flow of the River of LIFE.
If by chance you don't know your neighbor, introduce yourself today. If the person you blindly see everyday but never speak to because 'thats just the way city life is' well change it, be more than a cog in the wheel, speak to them with love in your heart and let's all decide to form a Community of Humanity that will survive into the FUTURE.

What a beautifully inspiring post to start my day off with!
So true, all of it!
Its amazing how we have the luxury where we can segregate and isolate, and protect ourselves when we choose to.
However when we suddenly do not have the choice, when we are isolated due to colour, creed, sexual orientation, difference of opinion, financial status, or illness, the seclusion can be devastating and harmful.
Reaching out in an electronic format is excellent for finding specific individuals to aid us in our dfaily lives, however that does not release us from the personal responsibility to physically reach out in our own geographical locations. We are humans, we need to remember to act humanely.
Peace and Blessings

Inspiring words indeed. :-)
Well said, and very brave of you to do it with Mars ascending.
There's a posh Lockheed Martin corporate headquarters near where I live. I drive past it on my way to substitute teach at an inner city school.
The house next door to me has changed hands 3 times since my family moved here. Sad to say, I don't even know the names of the new neighbors, but it's only because I'm bad with names. Their dog is named Kobi.
I talk to everyone, it's the hillbilly in me. Drives my kids nuts.
Why be a secular humanist? Pick a god, or a goddess. Plenty to choose from. The more obscure the better! They'll appreciate the attention. Ever notice how closely the deities are modeled on human beings? (hmmmmmmmm)
