The Nation State Boundaries ARE THE PROBLEM to Begin with People!!!!
By this I mean that the problem with our 21st century pridicament is that we have been working with a medival approach to what really is an issue of World Government. The UN unfortunately Sucks raw eggs, and frankly the whole set up was not designed to handle the things that we expect of it. It can never be a true World body politic that we all agree upon, because it was designed by the '''winners'' of WWII and has become a beauracratic nightmare that for the most part is ineffectual for the needs of the 21st century. We need instead a Federation of Sovereign Humans
Not many people want to face the fact that to survive as a species, humans will have to leave behind our Nationalistic Tribal urgings to WIPE other TRIBES off the face of the Earth, and come to the Only sane conclusion left. .
We are ONE TRIBE OF HUMANS
A New Federation of Sovereign Human Beings needs to be enacted to Protect our future. The Time is now for us all to realize that Our Infantile Leaders, and ineffectual Governments that use and abuse us ALL as Humans, is the Biggest part that we seem to gloss over at this pivotal point in History. We must Grow Out of this childish behavior and DEMAND that Human Unity be The FIRST OBJECTIVE in our search for the answers to the conflicts we ALLOW to go on and on Daily, perpetuated by the Governments who we ALLOW to RULE US.

I do think it's true that if people survive long term on this planet, the age of the nation-state will go the way of the city-state. Travel, communications, and as you suggest, the need to reduce conflict and have real justice world-wide, requires a world-wide system of order.
I think and hope it's something that may gradually emerge among nations through consensus. I don't think any one nation state can impose its idea of what will work on the rest of the world and have it work.
I do think you have some excellent points about the state of our nations.
But to me it is more helpful to deal with one issue or problem at a time: GWB is first in line!

I agree with the points that both you Paul, and you Barbara bring up. The real point of my post is that Human Minds have to Reclaim their Own Sovereign Rights as Humans FIRST. GWB is a meglomaniac we all should be able to agree. To get him out of American Politics is Good for the Planet. The problem is that is not enough. Too much damage has already been done, and we ALLOW it to go on by letting our Leaders, take us to WAR and FEEDING the FEAR of the OTHER. ONE RACE= HUMAN , ONE PLANET = EARTH and only one way to survive = PEACE. Humans must rise up and demand of the Statesmen and Stateswomen who run this planet that Peace is the only way for mutual survival. Some of the New Kids on the AtomicBomb Clock have no concept except as it relates to Nation States, and this is The Problem.
Plus the Arms Merchants do not care WHAT NATION STATE you belong to, they operate on a Global Currency. Dollars, Yen, Euros or Dinars it does not matter to them, they have enough money to move out of Lebanon,, when the fighting gets to hot, or anywhere else. These are the people we need to bring down, unfortunately they mostly live in the UK and USA. WE ARE THE BIGGEST ARMS DEALERS OUT THERE PEOPLE. Unity will only come one person at a time. You must agree to that? We all have to demand that this is a HUMAN FIRST situation. I am not knocking any culture, ethnic group at all, just the false assumption that Nation States are the Best way to have a Sane Planet.
